Cradle Mountain National Park

About This Project

The Cradle Mountain Summit Walk is well deserving of it’s position as one of the world’s great one day walks. It is as beautiful as it is challenging. The feeling of making the summit and then again when you reach the carpark after completing the journey is amazing and one of my life’s special moments, perhaps made even more special by the navigation blunder and that I shared it with my wife and children.

Is it suitable for kids? Yes, but only for certain kids and with a suitable preparation. We did a number of walks in the lead up to this to make sure we were all ready. Our girls are also pretty small for their ages, so it may even be appropriate for younger children again, but as their parent, you’ll know which are suited to this type of activity and the level of intensity and which aren’t. It’s not without it’s dangers, and that needs to be weighed up heavily before making the decision to tackle it or not, but if you do, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
